A Sea Turtle is any one of seven different species of marine turtles They live in the ocean and only come ashore to lay their eggs. They have long paddle like front flippers and short rear flippers, oval shaped shells to protect them against attack. The smallest can measure just 2 feet long and weigh about 80 lbs but the largest can measure up to 6 feet long or more and weigh over 2000 lbs. They only live in saltwater and once they enter the ocean as hatchlings, they do not return to land for many years and males never leave the ocean at all. Some species of turtle are carnivores and eat mostly fish. Others are herbivores and eat mostly plants while some are omnivores and they eat both plants and animals. Most species live across relatively large regions and migrate to nesting locations. Various species live in the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and more.
