Description
Snails are a shelled gastropod, they have a coiled shell that is large enough for the snail to retract into. The word snail includes not just land snails but also sea snails and freshwater snails. They feed at night on organic matter, but also on fungi, lichens, green foliage, worms, centipedes, insects and other slugs. Slugs squeeze themselves into small confined spaces such as under loose bark on trees or under stone slabs and logs. They are in less danger from either predators or desiccation and often suitable places for laying their eggs. They can be found worldwide.
